Update for the Port Bay/Lake Ontario area:
The weather has warmed up considerably, which
has started to form a thermalcline. The surface
temperature is 61.0 degrees, which has started to
push the bait and fish down into there preferred
comfort zone. when fishing on those flat, sunny
days try to add weight to your surface lines.
while trolling this past few days, as far offshore
as the 24 North bar/ which is 6 miles out from Port Bay, there has been little bait and fish on
the screen. This thermalcline should be set up
in one-two weeks. Then the target zone should be
more visible. So while fishing this coming weekend
carry plenty of fuel, it maybe a long day of fishing to reach your limit.
Bass fishing opens this Saturday, so I'm sure there will be plenty of action.
Good Luck,
Capts. Frank and Charles DeNoto
