Well in the Port Bay area of Lake Ontario King salmon are being taken. The average fish weighs
15-25 lbs. Some brown trout and Lake trout have
been on the bite also. The water temperature has
been upwelling near shore, so in 60-150' of water
the fish have been taken from 30-60' down. Offshore on the 24-27 bar North Latitude the fish
have been taken from 75-110' down. Cut bait and
Northern King lures have been the baits of choice
for the Port Bay guides. The smallmouth fishing
has been slow due to upwelling in front of Port Bay, the heavy moss still in the 15-30' range.
Just get out there and have fun, and you will come
home with some nice fish.
Capt. Frank and Charlie DeNoto
