August 28th,2001....Port Bay/Lake Ontario John Bannon, Ed Bannon, Moe, from Connecticut. Had a good morning of salmon fishing. They boated three brown trout, one mature salmon, two smallmouth bass and had two other fish {trout} We fished in 75'-100' of water in front of Port Bay. There was plenty of bait in the area. The fish came from 45' to 60' down, on cut bait/flashers, and on Northern King spoons,28 size. Also this week we ventured out to the 28'Bar 650' of water and caught salmon and trout offshore down 85-101'. using the same lure selection. Good Luck and enjoy the Great Lake Ontario. Don't forget that the smallmouth fishing is still second to none in our area, We fish live bait in 18'-35' of water. They make excellent meals. Capt. Frank and Capt. Charlie DeNoto |
