June 26th,2000.
The lake is going threw a transition period which
happens every year, the surface temperature is starting to warm up. We are finding that the bait fish
are moving down to a more comfortable zone, where the
temperature is cooler. The fish are starting to scatter
out, there are still brown trout taken every trip. You
should be using more downrigger techniques and less planner boards. The surface temp. of the lake near shore is 62.0 degrees. I haven't heard of much action
futher offshore than 150', with the hits coming at 40-
65' down. There is good smallmouth fishing near shore
with the best bait to use being minnows, it's to hard
using crawfish until the moss is cleaned off the bottom.
Good Luck fishing this holiday weekend, and use caution
with all the jet-skis and weekend boaters zipping around this upcoming weekend.
